UK suffers construction sales slump

Sales recruitment in the construction industry could be hit by a slump in house building sales, research has suggested.

According to the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (Cips), the construction sector declined at its fastest rate since its records began between April and May.

According to Roy Ayliffe, Cip's director of professional practice, services are continuing to "wane" following a three month slow down.

He said: "Purchasing managers saw overall activity levels in the UK construction industry decline at the sharpest pace since the PMI survey began in April 1997.

"Notably, the use of subcontractors fell at the fastest rate in survey history, as demand for their services continued to wane."

Meanwhile, in a wider sign of construction sales jobs turmoil, shares in building firms fell by as much as ten per cent.

Among them was Taylor Wimpey, which saw its value plummet by 50 per cent in the first part of 2008.

The Aaron Wallis Construction and M&E sales team offer many construction sales jobs across the sector. For employers Aaron Wallis offer a construction sales recruitment service that offers 12 month rebate and psychometric profiling within a single fixed recruitment price.
