Apprentice demand may lead recruitment boost
Demand for apprentices in Kirklees may translate into a need for mechanical engineering sales recruitment staff, a source suggests.
Kirkdale Industrial Training Services has seen an "unprecedented rise" in engineering apprentice numbers in the area, the Huddersfield Examiner reports.
All of these are "eager to pursue a career in the mechanical, electrical, fabrication or motor vehicle disciplines", the firm's chief executive David Todhunter claims.
Describing the trend as "encouraging", he tells the newspaper this shows businesses need to recruit more young people if they are to develop.
He claims activity in the engineering sector is "buoyant" and alleges an increase in growth for these companies will occur.
Talking to the news provider, the project leader in charge of the new engineering diploma Helen King claims this suggests an end to the difficulty firms have faced attracting new recruits.
He says this will boost the number getting involved in the sector, which may require an increase in mechanical engineering sales recruitment to cope with the influx.
Earlier in the month, a spokesman for the Institute of the Motor Industry claimed the new engineering diploma would allow pupils to enter the field more easily after they finished school.
