Online recruitment 'falling'
Demand for staff fell across several sectors in the UK, including accounting, banking, construction and the legal industry, it has been revealed.
Research carried out by careers specialist Monster Worldwide indicates the declines led online recruitment to a 19-month low in November.
The firm's monthly employment index fell by nine points during the month to reach a level of 152.
Hugo Sellert, head of economic research at the company, said: "The continued decline in recruitment activity in November is another sign that the economic downturn has severely reduced employment prospects across Britain."
Mr Sellert added that job opportunities are now down by ten per cent from the same time last year, despite companies increasingly advertising their vacancies on the internet.
However, he added that some sectors are showing pockets of sustained growth, including education, healthcare and government.
Last month, Vincent Belliveau, general manager of learning management software provider Cornerstone OnDemand for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, claimed organisations should ensure they align their recruitment strategies with overall business aims in the current uncertain economic climate.
The Aaron Wallis Construction and M&E sales team offer many construction sales jobs across the sector. For employers Aaron Wallis offer a construction sales recruitment service that offers 12 month rebate and psychometric profiling within a single fixed recruitment price.
