Sales jobs: Lord Mandelson backs mobile operators
Lord Mandelson has said that the UK's mobile operators are in a prime position to boost electronic sales jobs.
The secretary of state for business, innovation and skills said that Britain's leading mobile companies can offer new roles to UK workers and help the country emerge from the economic downturn.
He said: "A key component of Digital Britain is delivering a world-class telecommunications infrastructure to enable UK businesses to compete and thrive on a global scale."
Lord Mandelson added that the UK's mobile operators have a pivotal role to play in making Labour's vision of a digital Britain a reality.
In a meeting with minister for Digital Britain Stephen Timms and chief executives of the UKs five main mobile network operators, Lord Mandelson discussed the government's plans for creating a strong mobile industry.
The government recently helped to give a boost to electronic sales jobs by investing £3 million into software companies Vamosa and the KeTech Group.
