North eastern innovation 'creating new technical sales jobs'
The increasing levels of innovation in UK businesses are leading to the creation of technical sales jobs, a new book has suggested.
FutureStory Newcastle and the North East claims that new innovation, science and research jobs have been generated by entrepreneurial companies operating on the global stage.
It explores how traditional jobs in the coal, shipbuilding and other heavy industries have been replaced with positions in high-tech firms.
Lord Peter Mandelson, business secretary, claims that the dialogue about the great industrial cities has begun to focus on the new jobs and organisations being created in them.
He says: "That renaissance is being led by our people, backed up by public investment and a strong commitment to enterprise."
In other news, sales recruitment in Wales has been boosted by a government scheme based in Swansea that has created 1,500 new jobs.
It forms part of a £1 billion initiative designed to create 150,000 new positions throughout the UK.
