Environmentally-friendly packaging 'growing in importance'
The trend towards companies deploying environmentally-friendly packaging is likely to continue, an expert has asserted.
Sam Jarvis, spokesperson for Waste Watch, highlighted the fact that packaging changes are being made to a growing range of fast moving consumer goods.
People applying for packaging sales jobs should be aware of this trend, as the representative predicted that the cost savings it confers on companies are likely to remain important in the foreseeable future.
He said: "I think that it is a trend that probably will continue because it's a much lighter weight to transport and that means that there are fewer carbon emissions as a result."
Mr Jarvis listed some of the advantages of the packaging, including its lower carbon footprint and the cost savings on raw materials and transport.
His comments followed the news that supermarket chain Waitrose has announced that it will be launching wine in plastic bottles as a ploy to make the most of the festival-goer market this summer.
