Employment prospects 'looking good' for engineers

People with engineering qualifications have a greater chance of gaining employment in the coming months as sector organisations are currently on the lookout for people with the skills to push them forward.

That is the opinion of Kevin Green, chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, who said that the UK jobs market is currently presenting some excellent opportunities for people with the right qualifications.

He explained: "A priority for government is to ramp up the support and guidance for job-seekers and to raise awareness of these growth areas within our labour market."

Mr Green added that vocations such as IT, particularly with regards to the internet, are also currently searching for the right candidates.

Meanwhile, Gerry McLaughlin, of ITContractor.com, said that people who have taken the time to gain technical qualifications and have a bit of experience in the field have an excellent chance to fill skilled roles at the moment.
