79% of workers want an October bank holiday
Research finds 79 per cent of workers including those in security sales recruitment jobs want a bank holiday in the month of October, a source reveals.
Figures from Peninsula found 92 per cent felt one more statutory day off should be added to the working calendar, with more than three-quarters believing it should fall in this month, Onrec.com reports.
The survey discovered the results from interviews with more than 4,000 workers from a variety of sectors, which could include security sales recruitment jobs.
Managing director Peter Done claims the month is a likely choice because Christmas still seems some distance off, but winter weather and darker evenings means people feel more despondent.
He tells the website: "Employers may argue that productivity is at risk so sensible discussion would need to take place looking at what effect - if any - time off will have on the economy."
In the UK there are no bank holidays between August 25th and Christmas.
